Description
Be Prepared: Know What to Say and How to Say It is a full-day spokesperson and media training course for Colorado local public health agency leadership personnel. What you say and how you say it is critical to getting the right information out to your many stakeholders, including the news media. This intensive course is designed to give participants the confidence they need to explain their work and to talk about tough issues with a wide range of audiences, including the news media.
Participants will learn how to:
-
Prepare for stakeholder engagement and news media encounters
-
Communicate effectively, even during an emergency
-
Handle difficult questions and situations
-
Understand what causes, and how to manage, conflict and opposition
-
Come across as confident, credible spokespersons
This highly interactive course features video examples of effective and not-so-effective message delivery; group training exercises using relevant scenarios; news conference style videotaped sessions with professional interviewers, followed by group critiques; and an opportunity for a brief one-on-one practice session.
This workshop is limited to 50 participants.
Lunch and snacks will be provided.
A customized "Be Prepared: Know What to Say and How to Say It" Training Manual will be provided during the workshop.
